It is evident that men tend to be more aggressive than women in a lot of areas. To a greater extent, aggression is a personality type which is characterized by men due to their environment. Buss and Hawley reveal that personality is normally caused by the interaction between the environment, body, and brain which are ever-changing (2011). This reveals that the environment is responsible for the aggressive nature of men. Men indulge themselves in areas which are very competitive and notable hard. These two factors in that given environment force their brain and body to adapt to aggressiveness to survive or dominate. Furthermore, men are raised to be heads of families or leaders in certain fields. This norm which is present at home, school or workplace has made men become more aggressive than their counterparts. Women are used to environments which are not tough compared to men. Therefore, their level of aggressiveness is not as high because the needs of their given environment require less aggressiveness.

Despite the increased aggression of men against women, it is evident that there are also notable differences in the same gender. Research points out that evolution of personality can be influenced by psychological and physical mechanisms towards survival (Buss & Hawley, 2011). Hence, individuals embrace strategies to solve certain survival problems. This can explain the difference in the level of aggression in the same gender. Certain circumstances such as increased warfare could turn specific men or women to become more aggressive than others. This could be because they need to protect their family or interests. As a result, they possess more of the personality compared to others of the same sex. Hence, these mechanisms are providing solutions to adaptability problems which are faced by humans. Humans will adapt to survive.
