Demographics 

The analysis of a child as a reader is based on Exodus, an eight-year-old student. Exodus undergoes through the homeschooled system of education. With this type of education system, it is indefinite to determine exodus grade. However, Exodus is estimated to be in 3rd grade, with consideration of his age category. Exodus lives with his mother and younger sister, who is also home-schooled. At home where Exodus spends most of his time, there exist more than 2000 books which are used in their curriculum. The reading culture at Exodus's home is profound with efforts from his mother ensuring at least 30 minutes per day in reading to her children. According to the case study, the homeschooled system is of quality to Exodus, based on quality answers to different topics of his interest. 

Reason for referral 

One of the main attributions for the conduct of the case study is the lack of concentration from Exodus on topics he has no interest. According to the case study, Exodus younger sister, Eden, who is five years old has exceeded Exodus ability to read. Eden has exhibiting a grade 7 reading ability. Exodus hopes to improve his reading abilities and be on par with his sister.

Student interview 

The case study exhibits exodus as a bright child with an ability to quickly grasp any topic, especially those that he is interested in. Besides, Exodus states having an interest in pursuing a physicist career or aerodynamics. In questions that involved weather, Exodus showcased an excellent understanding with concise and informed answers. Also, Exodus highlighted his knowledge of being a poor reader. This he attributes to him reading his favorite things. The acceptance would be helpful in improving his reading abilities. 

Teacher interview. 

The teacher reviews factors that would profoundly affect Exodus reading patterns. Some of the elements majored by the teacher include Exodus interests an attitude as well as physical factors such as visual and auditory acuity. In determining exodus interests, the teacher observed Exodus loved playing with Lego sets. Also, the teacher noted the attraction of Exodus on astronomy and weather topics. In the attitude factor, the teacher noted exodus to be cooperative in the activities they engaged. Also, Exodus was observed to be involved in trying to improve his learning experience. Further, the teacher notes that Exodus has no physical impairments that would contribute to disruptive learning. For the visual acuity, the case study states that Exodus has undergone eye test which has proved no eyesight problems. Also, the teacher conducts a bell test in testing Exodus auditory acuity. From the trial, the teacher states that Exodus hearing features are in excellent condition. The conclusion is derived after Exodus could identify the right direction from which the bell rang. 

Triangulation of data. 

In diagnosing Exodus reading problem, an informal reading inventory was applied. The strategy is crucial in diagnosing native English speakers as well as EFL learners. Form A, B, and C of the Stieglitz Informal Reading Inventory were applied. They include a graded word in context assessment, graded word in isolation, dictated story assessments as well as grading reading passages. However, the assessments are conducted at levels. Exodus was started at level one receiving with no problem. He, however, experienced difficulties in the second and third level where he missed seven tests.

In the third chart which assessed miscues, Exodus was noted to have no problem in word reversal. Also, Exodus had a high self-correction which indicates the ability to improve his learning. 

Recommendation. 

In conclusion, Exodus is a bright boy who can change his learning patterns with keenness to listening and reading patterns. Utilization of strategies that would enhance concentration would be effective in improving Exodus learning patterns.
