Most individuals around the world consider death a frightening stage in life; therefore, hope to succumb to the same while surrounded by friends and families. Nevertheless, studies reveal that a significant number of patients experience death in hospitals as compared to their wishes due to modern medicine's focus on curing diseases and disregarding end of life care for patients ( Reports, 2013) . Additionally, modern society has placed its hope on medicine hence fail to prepare for death in advance as it believes in the scientific cures developed. This text, therefore, aims to critique the video produced by the NPT reports regarding the End of life.

The family plays a crucial role in ensuring a peaceful transition from life to death as they offer love and comfort as well as understanding which remain the critical requirements of patients during their last moments. Similarly, the assessment conducted by the family determines the course of the patient's treatment based on the fact that most family members demand that doctors do their best to save their patient's lives. However, some family members later find that aggressive treatment during the End of life fails to be necessary hence advocate for doctor's advice which may then be positive or negative. A positive response from the doctor will then require treatment as there are significant changes in recovery ( Wachterman, Pilver, Smith, Ersek, Lipsitz & Keating, 2016)

Death occurs as a series of events starting with physical, psychological, social and financial events. The concerned patients experience the physical effects of death while the family and friends experience the psychological, social and economic impact as they are then left to deal with the same. Moreover, a strong family acknowledges their patient's desires thus focuses on the same rather than focusing primarily on executing their wishes. The nurses and caregivers, on the other hand, contribute significantly to the readiness of both the patients and families for the ultimate experience of death. In conclusion, this critique has evaluated the role of the family and caregivers during death and dying as well as the implications of the same on both the patients and their families.
