Abstract, Introduction, and Thesis Statement

Research is an essential element in academic assessment; it proves students' theoretical knowledge and helps strengthen their understanding in a given study or field. Research is only regarded as complete when its results or findings have been shared with the scientific community. Both scholars and students are considered essential members of the scholarly community. A good research paper is accurate, verifiable, valid, transparent, and sequential and can be measured or controlled. Another vital aspect of a good research paper is the structure (Yao, 2011). A research paper should be written in the right format, including title, abstract, introduction, literature review, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and reference. The paper should follow the sequence represent above. This assignment will focus on the abstract, introduction, and thesis statement.

The abstract appears on page two of a research paper just after the title page. It is one of the most crucial sections of a research paper as it summarizes the report in a manner that everyone can understand without necessarily the whole article (Kim et al., 2019). The primary purpose of writing an abstract is to accurately and briefly summarize a research publication so that readers can easily understand and interpret the paper's usefulness. It includes the study's objective, methods used, results, conclusion, and recommendations of the research study.

The introduction of a research paper should just immediately after the abstract. This section introduces the research paper to familiarize the readers with the article. The introduction provides background information about the topic and context under which it falls. In addition to background information, the research is expected to give the reader more information about the study, state the rationale used in writing the paper, highlight the research importance, and eventually state the research hypothesis (Peffers et al., 2018).

Lastly is the thesis statement, which concludes the introductory research paragraph. The thesis statement gives a summary of the main claim or points to be captured in the research. In most cases, it is written as a single sentence. The essential elements of a thesis statement include interpretation, surprise, and facts. It must explain facts in a more precise and surprising manner.
