Many forums have reached an agreement to ban the effective use of ammunition during protest and picketing. It is precisely argued that the ammunition may hurt the protestors and infringe on the constitutional right to picketing. While this opinion is right, the right to picketing may just rub the innocent citizens the wrong way. I also take to cognizant the fact that there is need to respect the rights of both sets of individuals.

While it is true that the freedom to assemble and picket is enshrined in the international human rights bodies. The need for protests is used as the primary way to show dissent and present the voice of the minority to the authorities for consideration. However, in many cases, especially in developing countries, this right has only ended up hurting the individuals that are actively or passively involved.

My stand against the freedom for picketing and protests is on the basis that the offended government or the disgruntled organization against which the picketing is organized may use excessive force in repelling the protestors, even hurting the individuals more than before. This freedom should be reviewed to ensure that the picketers are protected from the harmful effects of the police brutality amongst other extreme measures that may be taken against them.

The freedom to assemble and present a petition is meant to go alongside respect and honor for the business owners, and other pedestrians who may not be part of the aggression against the picketers. Regarding realizing such issues, it is important also to recognize the need for the respect of property and not to infringe on the rights of other citizens.

In this regards to public protest and picketing, I would like to oppose any of such moves to legalize public demonstrations. Though this point may be controversial, I am convinced that no discussion has come up with a solution to the rights of passersby, only checking on the rights of the protestors. The right to picketing and protests should, therefore, be reviewed in my opinion.
