There has been various view and conception of women lives in the Middle East especially the Muslim countries. Majority of people stereotype and judge the social practices creating a one-dimensional picture of women, which does not replicate their exact variant and depth. These view and conception are because of the freedom refrained from the women in these countries. These refrains are such as burdensome women role of mother and wife in the household, lack of freedom in their dress code or even the right to drive. Nevertheless, like any other part in the world, some elements have made the cultural practice maintain until this generation such as class, geographical location, family tradition and social customs.

When covering the issue of gender in the Middle East and Islamic countries, one should consider the advancement of rights over time, the variation personal or family status law within states, the value of family network or the task of Sharia (Islamic law) in molding cultural norms. For instance, instead of looking at gender as in segregation, it would be essential to compare the gender practices in Middle Eastern states with other cultures all over the world. For example, one can compare and contrast the gender isolation between the Middle Eastern countries and the United States. In this comparison, one can consider the rights over time. One can compare how long it took to attain suffrage of women after their freedom from Oman in contrast to the United States. In addition, one can evaluate how the Muslim female feel and their opinion in covering their hair. However, the fact is that the rights and law concerning female status in the Middle East are quite different compared to the West.
