Liberal feminism is a theory that focuses more on issues concerning equality in different institutions such as education, politics and the workplace in general. Basically, liberal feminism is a form of feminist theory which summarizes the ability of women to retain their equality in social settings and in the workplace through their actions and the choices they make (Mumby,2013).Therefore, just like feminist theory, liberal feminism emphasizes on making women rights in the workplace equal to men’s rights. Liberal feminists believe and argue that society views women as the weaker gender because they have less intellectual and physical capability than men which tends to discriminate their contributions in the workplace. However liberal feminism is putting an end to this (Huntington & Eichner, 2016).

There are several principles of liberal feminism from an organizational stand point, one of them being glass escalator. I have not personally witnessed this phenomenon in my workplace experience as a teacher but I have a lot of knowledge of the concept. This principle describes the differences between men and women in their workplace advancements and it emphasizes more on those workplaces that are mainly dominated by women. Glass escalator principle describes the way men are advantaged in receiving higher positions when entering in women dominated organizations .just like an escalator, men are able to get into women dominated workplaces, stand out and have people standing behind them and supporting them (Kumra, 2017). women are able to witness men who are ahead of them career wise and they sometimes wonder why they do not advance as fast as their men counterparts and yet everybody is supposed to receive the same opportunities despite gender. Therefore, the principle of glass escalator describes the difference that exists in career advancements between men and women mostly in those workplaces that are dominated by women (Kumra, 2017).
