It is evident that an understanding of the world cultures beyond that which is present within individual countries is an essential part of ensuring effective management of a business. In this practice, the Global Attitude Protocol (GAP) is utilized as a significant means of evaluating the mindset of an individual in their interactions with other members of the global society (Ghemawat, 201). The survey is intended to evaluate whether one has the ability to treat all human beings equally or one is more sympathetic to those who are more similar and closer to the individual. Through learning about global culture, one is able to gain an alternative view of the most appropriate ways of relating with other members of the society (Ghemawat, 201). It is common that a person will be more sympathetic and trust individuals from their own country. However, through the learning process, one can understand how best to strike a cohesive relationship with individuals from other cultures that will result in high levels of positive business performance.
The Ghemawat survey results indicate that over the course of 12 weeks, I have been able to experience significant change in my attitude and beliefs toward global culture (2018). There have been a number of issues learnt during this period including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1997 (FCPA) on foreign fraud, ethical decisions associated with fraudulent resume, and concerns about stealing from your employer. Through these topical issues, I have come to understand how various business practices abroad may be considered as illegal in the US law. As a global citizen, it is important that an individual identify the need to practice behavior that leads to the equal treatment of all humanity. In this case, taking the role of a whistleblower is essential to prevent greedy senior executives in a company from running a company into bankruptcy (Funk, 2010). This practice will enable proper business performance in the global society.
