A high-income country selected is Denmark. The country is ranked ninth in the world going by the gross domestic product (GDP). The nominal GDP per capita of Denmark stands at 56444 US$. The main exports from Denmark include industrial products which constitute up to 73%. The country manufactures machineries, instruments, chemicals, and fuel. The country also produces agricultural products. According to the reports by the UN annual Human Development, Denmark has been ranked as one of the most developed countries in the world. The country has a long history of industrial specialization which is one of the primary reasons why the economy of the country has been stable. The country also has a history of a stable government that ensures that there is an equal distribution of resources, income and high living standards amongst people. The economy of Denmark has grown to become a modern day market economy that boasts of more advanced industries as well as high tech agricultural practice. The poverty level in the country is at a lower rate, and the rates of unemployment are also minimal.

Afghanistan has been named as one of the poorest countries in the world. Based on the income levels, life expectancy and literacy levels of the citizens, UN global human development ranked Afghanistan as the fifth least developed country. Compared to Denmark, Afghanistan has a GDP of only US$964, a figure that is far much low in relation to that of Demark. There is a high level of unemployment with the majority of the citizens lacking the basic food requirements. Unlike Denmark that has advanced industrial sector, Afghanistan has very limited industries with most industrial products being imported from other countries. The country has limited production, and their agricultural system relies on the traditional methods of farming. Access to social amenities such as education, healthcare, and clean water is also a problem. The country has a long history of political instability, a factor which has significantly contributed to its underdevelopment.
