Global stratification refers to arrangement of people into groups in certain society globally. For example the slavery is a global stratification that has placed people of certain trait, color, origin and ethnic ground into a group. In a society, stratification occurs in different forms, such that the way people group themselves with regards to wealth, power and prestige determines the type of stratification. However, there is inequality associated with stratification, it categorizes people differently and creates a gap between the poor and the rich. Globally, stratification has been known to have a negative impact especially when it comes to distribution of wealth, there is a gap that has emerged as a result of stratification. The poor are facing unequal practices that have rendered them powerless; the society has been undermined by the powerful as a result of stratification.
Take a look at global stratification from way back during the period of colonization, you find that the powerful countries moved globally to seek for weaker countries so as to colonize them. This is clear evidence that stratification has a negative impact. Local culture has experienced the negative impact of stratification on the basis of inequality and biased distribution of wealth. This is where there are those who are powerful and the powerless. The powerful have undermined the powerless, there is no unity in terms of resource allocation and knowledge distribution, and there is greed in the local culture that has been affected by stratification. Take a look at Nike and General Motors as multinational corporations, they have managed to stay ahead of competitors for quite a decade, these multinational companies have benefited from developing countries that do not have the resources to expand their corporations. Such case depicts stratification in terms of global resource allocation. Corporations have the advantage of taking over in a market that they find low tax rates; the ability of these big corporations to navigate their business makes them more powerful and can therefore control prices (Beeghley, 2015).

Global stratification in the United States has resulted to a gap between the rich and the poor. This results from the inequality in wealth distribution. A research conducted by Harvard University explains stratification in terms of aces to quality education, food and economic resources. For example a child born from a wealthy family will get quality education because of the school he will be admitted to, unlike a child born from a poor family. When it comes to employment for example, there has been a gap between the qualified and those who are not qualified but have connections with the higher authority. Many people who have the qualifications and experience for high profile jobs find it difficult to get a job simply because they do not have connections. This has resulted to the rise of poverty level. In United States, those who are wealthy, powerful and most influential have the chance to access economic resources, quality lifestyle and furthermore they can establish business and thrive due to their power of influence. As asserted by Pieterse (2015), this form of stratification has impacted negatively the United States citizens as it is resulting to a wide gap between the ‘fortunate’ and the ‘less fortunate’.
United States has been rated as one of the dominant nation when it comes to outsourcing resources, it has therefore impacted on developing nations that strive to attain a global competitive strategy, but due to dominant corporations, it has been difficult. The biggest ‘winner’ in such situation will be the one who is more influential and powerful. It is because of stratification that such gap exists and hence it renders those who have no voice in state where they cannot articulate their views because they are always suppressed. They also end up being bribed by the powerful and this worsens the situation (Sudmant et al,2015).
