In the presentation of ethical theory, the focus is on three formulations. The first on is acting upon the actions that are universalized as a moral guide. The main point is following the moral path that is required and expected to be followed by others. Second, never use individuals as a means to an end, but only as ends in by themselves. Lastly, never deny individuals the autonomy and always treat them with respect and dignity for they are rational beings (Fieser, 2015).

Gender discrimination plays a significant role in this case. For most of Lilly Ledbetter tenure at Goodyear, she was given unequal compensation. Lilly was not aware of the situation until she was informed anonymously that a male worker was making more considerable sum despite having the same skills and experience. The denial of fair pay to her took away her autonomy, and she was not allowed to make to seek and leave other employment that pays better or to decide to stay despite the discrimination on pay. The case on discrimination disapproves Goodyear message on their website on shared values on a commitment to acting with integrity, honesty, and respect but never stood up with the same on Lilly Ledbetter's situation (Bader, 2013)
