There are roles to be used in determining the solutions for the group roles and especially to the members who are extremely uncooperative. For instance, the most disturbing member is the one who is sitting next to the leader and repeats the words being spoken. This is hurting to both the leader and distracts other members. The following skills will be applied in dealing with the challenges of this member. First thing to do is to ensure that the group member behind the problem is made aware of his behaviour of causing problems and interruption of the rest and also the effects of these behaviours should be communicated. However, it is of great importance for a social worker to ultimately focus on the member’s behaviour and not merely attacking the member. For instance, the member should be aware of his behaviour, the results and the feelings to others. When the person is well aware of the impacts of his behaviour then a solution can be found. For instance, the member should be involved in determining a solution towards solving this problem. As a group leader the member should be asked to commit in rectifying this behaviour and show him how success will be measured. It is also important to let the member know the consequences of continuing with the same behaviour. In case where the behaviour has had adverse effects to the entire group it will be important to involve other team members in solving the problem including the most appropriate punitive measures to be applied. Nonetheless, it is the role of the group leader to finally determine the ideal course of action in dealing with the member.
