The world is increasingly becoming a global village due to increased connectedness, as well as interdependence. Consequently, the world is now concerned with global health issues, especially because they transcend national boundaries. Rapid population growth, primarily in developing countries, and increased violence are the major global health concerns because they affect individuals and society at large. Like many medical professionals, nurses have been affected by global health issues significantly (Holtz, 2017). Global health, therefore, has a lot of implications in the nursing profession.
Global health has a lot of implications in the nursing profession. The major implication, however, is associated with increased injuries and violence, as the number of injured patients is rapidly growing. Consequently, nurses are now forced to provide care to millions of injured patients locally and abroad (Holtz, 2017). To address the problem of injured patients, nurses must train on effective wound management, as well as cultural competence that will enable them to work across countries. Besides, with rapid population growth, nurses are likely to experience increased workload, which may end up affecting the quality of nursing care ( Edmonson et al., 2017) . The workload is linked to the surging number of patients due to the increasing prevalence of various diseases and injuries (Holtz, 2017). Thus, the workload is a problem that is likely to persist in the nursing profession.

However, technology can help in addressing some of the global health issues, particularly concerning health disparities. Accessibility of quality healthcare has become one of the major global health issues, mainly in developing countries. For instance, mHealth, which is aided by mobile phone technology, has increased the accessibility of health significantly ( Harding, 2016) . Besides, technology has improved patient engagements and effective clinical decision-making. Other technologies, such as telehealth, have also enhanced the accessibility of quality healthcare services ( Harding, 2016) . Hence, technology is already improving the effectiveness of the global health movement.
Therefore, with increased globalization, the world is likely to face many health issues that affected people across nations. Nonetheless, nurses will adversely be affected by global health trends because they play a key role in the health care sector. The nursing profession will be forced to adapt to a multicultural approach to care. Modern medical technologies, however, can help in reducing the global health challenges.
