After reading the article, significant aspects of job sculpting are evident. First, an employee’s level of satisfaction at work does not directly depend on the amount of money they get but instead on deeply embedded life interests ( Harvard Business Review , 2011). Many companies that do not make efforts to identify these interests often lose their most productive workers keeping competent employees. Also, job sculpting for companies may not be an easy undertaking. However, when properly undertaken, it adds value to the organization by retaining already hired talented employees and adding efficiency to organizational processes.

The thing I learned about myself is that my job satisfaction can only come when I align my career with the deeply embedded life interests I possess. Besides, pursuing careers due to peer influence or following career advice without considering embedded life interests will lead to job dissatisfaction. Ultimately, this leads to quitting jobs because I can only perform best if my deeply embedded interests are in line with the job I do.

In order to ensure maximum performance of employees in an organization, it is critical to embark on job sculpting as it helps retain good employees by giving them roles that fulfill their life interests and career satisfaction ( Harvard Business Review , 2011). Though it may seem challenging because of the needed psychological skills, conducting Job sculpting ultimately adds efficiency and value creation for their companies. Organizational performance rises when employees enjoy the roles assigned to them, and this directly depends on job sculpting efforts within the organization.

Psalms 139:14 talks about how uniquely each person has been created by God (James James Version). As such, it is essential to understand that each worker is skilled in doing specific roles. Identifying these skills enables them to live productive lives as God intended. Colossians 3:23 also encourages both managers and workers to do their assignments as though working for God and not man. This can only be done when career roles are in line with the naturally profoundly embedded life interests.
