Having acknowledged that the Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Education is seeking to award stipends to prospective students, I hereby submit my proposal to kindly ask to be awarded that stipend in The Early College at Guilford, a partner and affiliate beneficiary college to your stipend programs. My name is Loraine Holluk, a 16-year-old high school senior from Cypress Bay High School, in the United States of America. I hereby write this proposal to express my sincere belief to you and plead with you to consider awarding me this stipend program by the HABSE. I have known HABSE for its profound concern to needy but bright students who have sacrificed their academic lives to bring change not only in their school setups, but across the country by touching and encouraging other students to reach their academic horizons. I learnt of this stipend program from my high school mentor who advised me to write my proposal, seeking for a favor to benefit from your program which you are giving during the next summer. I happily took the courage to write to you, with the mindset that this program is usually awarded on the basis of merit, and there is no favoritism or corruption whatsoever, but purely given to the students who deserve.
It is important to highlight my brief academic profile which carries accolades of good grades and marks right from my elementary school in the Latin School of Chicago. I do not want to paint myself as someone who was born a genius, but I have really had the passion to perform outstandingly. Having grown up with a single-parent mother in the ghetto streets of Down-Town Chicago, I have seen how hard life was for the poor people who only had average education in their lifetime and worked for more than 15 hours a day to raise meaningful income for their families. Probably they are not to blame, considering the family backgrounds that form part of this community I live in. My beloved mother- one whom I consider the bedrock of my academic performance- has always seen unmatched potential, outstanding capability, and great intellect in me to perform. Right from grade 1 in Latin School of Chicago up to Grade 8, I have always worked hard and scored exemplarily by topping the class. Surprisingly, as I can remember every time end-term elementary results were out and while awarding the top subjects, I always received all the batches. All my teachers used to tell me that I have an IQ of 300+, something I took as funny joke.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Come high school- in Cypress Bay High School- I made a decision that forever remained and got ingrained in my mind and body system: I firmly decided to work hard and become a software engineer. Not only did I decide to become a software engineer, but also charted out how I would do to arrive there. I earnestly sought to excel highly in high school with A-grade in all my 12 subjects. Having performed so, I wanted to join The Early College at Guilford to do my major for 2 years before proceeding to University of Yale- my dream university since my children. Academic performance has become my lifeblood whereby I now do not struggle to read, but I enjoy reading, researching, discussing with both teachers and fellow students, and doing experiments in the lab on my own. Due to the great performance trend I have established for all my years in school, I have made friends who are academically-oriented and who look up to me as their number one role model. Since my first year in high school, I encouraged other students, and we easily formed a study group of 200 students. The group called “ I can Achieve Better ” focuses on identifying weak students and encouraging them to set higher targets in their next exam, then share their targets with all the members. Having shared the goals for the next exam and what they seek to perform at their final year, this measure is intended to keep every group member on their toes. In case you award me this stipend for both my freshmen and sophomore years in The Early College at Guilford, I shall use part of that money to also award the top performing students in my current school.
If you award me this stipend, you would have relieved me of the worries of looking for night jobs in the hotels around. This is something I had been planning to do off-school-hours since I have to survive. Now, imagine the huddle of looking for campus casual jobs when you are a lady! You can figure out the kind of temptations I would undergo before stumbling on a meagre one. I would be doing all these at the detriment of my studies. Remember also I have to maintain my track record of performance upon enrolment in the The Early College at Guilford. I can assure you that, if you offer me this stipend program to cover for my expenses while in college, I shall work so hard not only to score grade A as usual, but to always aim at scoring 90 and above in all my subjects. Remember time is the factor to every success venture under the sun, and this stipend would greatly offer me the ample time I have ever desired to have in college.
As I conclude, I would like to assure you that I am going to scan and send you my subjects’ performance right from the first year when I joined high school to the final year. I shall also attach with teachers’ recommendation report- detailing how active I am outside classrooms and the role and responsibilities I play, apart from being voted the Academics President right from first year. With lots of humility, I therefore submit my proposal request for a stipend in 2017-2018’s sponsorship program.
