Established after the civil war, many historically black colleges opened to women. This statement is true due to the evidence presented in the underlying chapter and essay. To commence with, it is indicated that ‘after the civil war the establishment of all-women colleges enhances opportunities of higher education for women.’ Also, it is depicted that there was endowment of all-women institutions. Furthermore, institutions that had begun as female seminaries upgraded to colleges; thus the number of females graduating from colleges was on the rise.

Black and white clubwomen were equally disinterested in political goals. This statement is false because of the statements that I will highlight that are depicted in the underlying chapter. It is noted that ‘over time members came to terms that women should be endowed with political tools in order to achieve their public goals’. Also, it is perceptible that ‘women’s club movements evolved from literary and cultural matters to local social services schemes, regional and national set-ups for political influence.’ Moreover, it is notable that ‘The Women’s Christian Temperance union challenged the liquor industry politically and engaged in public welfare projects such as prison reforms.
