Introduction

Homeschooling is vital in the development of a person. Currently, many children in the US are being homeschooled. Notably, it provides a meaningful and conducive environment when selecting the curriculum to teach children. It focuses on the curriculum that will ensure children are successful . Therefore, children would be more comfortable expressing themselves. I strongly support Homeschooling because it is conducive and meaningful when choosing the curriculum needed to teach children and important to protect them from bad influence.

Importance of Homeschooling

Homeschooling provides a meaningful and conducive environment for learning and protecting the children from negative influence. Since homeschooling is flexible, children have a chance to advance rapidly especially in mathematics and sciences unlike in normal classrooms. Moreover, a parent can concentrate more on the child’s preferences. Also, it allows tutors to focus on grammar. Additionally, homeschooling offers an optimum learning environment for small class sizes. Since the teacher-student ratio is small, a tutor can easily provide specialized attention to each child's needs. Furthermore, it encourages a better tutor-student relationship and encourages children to participate in the classes while asking questions without fear or hesitation.

Homeschooling is essential in protecting children from their peers' negative influence. In a homeschooling environment, tutors encourage mutual respect among all children. Because children mutually respect each other, it is highly likely they will develop high self-esteem. Moreover, children can stay away from negative frequentations. Furthermore, homeschooling discourages bad behavior such as negative peer pressure and bullying. Homeschooling offers a peaceful and safe environment where children are taught according to their own pace and beliefs. Therefore, children are safe from negative behaviors such as calling each other names. Also, the peaceful and safe confines of a home protect children from bullying and any violence such as school threats. Over the past few years, public schools are no longer a haven due to the rising number of school shootings. All in all, homeschooling offers a safe environment where children can learn according to their preferences and talent.

Counterargument

However, homeschooling poses serious challenges that cannot be ignored. Due to homeschooling, students spend most of their time in the home environment, and they rarely interact with other children who have opposite views. Therefore, a child may grow up with limited opinions regarding particular issues in the society. Furthermore, since the children are ‘confined,' they may lack the ability to handle criticism or have the chance to criticize the opinions of others. Children’s views and opinions will be molded by their tutor. Therefore, the child will only understand the world from the tutor's viewpoint. Hence, they may be unable to handle criticism or express themselves openly. Also, since homeschooling often involves a small class size, a child will have limited exposure about communication in a bigger audience. Additionally, a small class size translates to a limited social life where the child will have limited interactions with their peers. Regardless of the advantages of homeschooling, it is essential to consider its disadvantages.

Conclusion

Although homeschooling provides a meaningful and conducive environment for learning and protecting the children from negative influence, parents must ensure the homeschooling curriculum complies with or address the society's educational requirements. Over the past decade, homeschooling has risen significantly in the US. Most parents are concerned about bullying and school violence because they have negative effects that get severe with age and may cause depression, lower grades, poor sleeping habits, and lower self-esteem. Therefore, homeschooling is a solution to children and families because it protects the children from physical and psychological torments of bullying. In as much as parents cite safety reasons for homeschooling, they should ensure that children do not miss out on important developmental issues such as their social life and ability to make rational and liberal decisions.
