The portrait above depicts a turtle in an ocean that is full of garbage. Most of the garbage is made of plastic material seemingly disposed into the water body. What grabs one’s attention more is the fact that the turtle is about to consume a plastic cup. Most of the plastic material, such as the cup, are wastes disposed of by human beings into the water bodies. The overall message being passed by this portrait is how toxic the negligent activities of human beings can be to the environment and the animals that thrive in that environment.

Plastic materials are non-biodegradable - this means that living organisms do not have the ability to break them down when they are ingested. Unlike human beings, animals such as the turtle in the picture above do not have the ability to distinguish between biodegradable and non-biodegradable material. Ingestion of the plastic cup by the turtle makes the animal choke and causes a high probability of death. From the picture, we note that the number of plastic material and other non-biodegradables is overwhelming. This means that we lose a lot of sea animals on a daily basis due to basic human negligence.
