Technology has played an instrumental role in the transformation of how society communicates and interacts. Today, communication and interaction take place at the touch of a button of a handset. However, amidst the benefits that technology stands to provide the society, it emerges that its use has adverse implications on the daily life of a majority of its users. Accordingly, incidences of unethical use in the use of technology have emerged. The introduction of artificial intelligence in the expansion of functionalities is known to have yielded both good and bad attributes in the world of technology. Artificial intelligence software that is more intuitive redefines how people interact with computers (Suen, Chen & Lu, 2019). Artificial intelligence is known to affect how human beings interact as well as their behavior and interaction.
Artificial intelligence systems have been found to emulate human beings. A typical instance is the creation of the bot Eugene Goostman, which was awarded for being the most intelligent during the Turing Challenge (Bossman, 2016). The machine filled people that they were in communication with a human being only for them to realize that they were interacting with a bot. The implications are evident in the world of customer service, whereby machines are now responsible for communicating. The sales department has also adopted the same strategy in a bid to eliminate the need for employing more customer representatives (Suen, Chen & Lu, 2019). The implications are not only the lack of touch with the client, but also denying most populace jobs. Machines are now replacing human beings at work.

While technology helps meet society roles, its use also has adverse effects. Artificial intelligence has replaced the roles previously handled by human beings. Ethical concerns emerge from denying human beings a chance to work and even duping them into communicating with a bot instead of a human being. In effect, despite its contribution to society, it is prudent that technology is assessed for its impacts on society.
