Leadership is instrumental in any organization. Leaders are responsible for ensuring that the firm's goals are always considered and at the forefront of all organization decisions. Leaders determine whether these goals are realized or not and whether the employees experience job satisfaction or not. Barrack Obama, former president of the United States, has illustrated his prowess as a leader-coach under whose administration significant milestones have been achieved.

Obama is a firm believer in the adage that many are better than one. In his famous philosophy of "we can," he sends a message to the American people and the officers in his government that it is only by working together that anything can be achieved. As a coach leader, it is expected that the leader should propagate the importance of group emphasis rather than individual performance (Mclean, 2010). As a group, the output is more significant and the ownership more prevalent. Obama as a leader insisted on the virtue of listening before speaking and embracing dialogue before making rash decisions. Coach leaders nurture their juniors through counseling and positive motivation. Obama has been at the forefront of encouraging his team to embrace change and seek alternatives to problems rather than fearing the uncertainties of change.

Moreover, Obama is a firm believer in letting his team have free reign in their mandated jobs. It has been proven that too much interference from superiors limits subordinates' ability to exercise creativity and innovation. Obama gives his people the tools to work with and offers tidbits of input to smoothen the process. His dedication to education and constant improvement has enabled his team to make significant gains in managing the healthcare crisis, inflation, and unemployment. The quality of inclusivity has been instrumental in realizing group goals. By inclusion, members own the project and work towards achieving the set goals (Mclean, 2010). Consultative decision-making has been at the forefront of the Obama administration. Consultation creates room for divergent ideas, which could prove very valuable. As a coach, it is imperative to consult and welcome divergent opinions.

Effective leadership can only be realized if the leaders and the subordinates share a cordial working relationship that encourages the free flow of information and ideas for better performance and organizational development.
