The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) project is focused on re-educating staff nurses to better assess CHF patients in a skilled rehab facility and to prevent re-hospitalization. Staff nurses have been re-educated using pre/post-test and powerpoints. Due to the differences in the nurse population, several cultural factors have had an impact on the implementation of the EBP project. One of the main cultural factors is the difference in the length of experience between the nurses. Out of the 30 nurses who are involved in the project, 15 of them have been nurses for less than five years, ten have been nurses for more than five years and less than ten years, and the remaining five nurses have a nursing experience of more than ten years. Hence, this difference in experience results in a difference in the perception of the information provided in the project. For example, the nurses with an experience of more than ten years may be more resistant to try out new applications and information provided by the EBP as compared to those with an experience of fewer than five years (Melnyk et al., 2017). This calls for differentiated education for each level of experience.

Another significant cultural factor that affects the project is the difference in clinical placements of the nurses involved. Twenty-six out of the thirty nurses are practical license nurses (LPN), while 2 are ADN, RN, and 2 have BSN, RN. This difference in qualifications has an impact on the type and degree of communication between the nurses (Yoo et al., 2019). This is due to conflicting perceptions on which nurses are more qualified as compared to the other. In turn, this may result in a lack of cooperation among some nurses in the program. Therefore, these cultural factors affect not only the administration of the project but also its acceptance by the nursing staff as well (Chen et al., 2019).
