The learning process is one that is filled with emotional cycles that constitute the event of learning. This is because the learning process has been associated with brain change. As a result, significant emotions are present during the learning process, which could either aid or impede the learning process. This paper reflects on a challenging phase of the emotional cycle and determines various ways in which the subject and others could help themselves in overcoming the challenges of this phase.
From the cycles of learning, there are four major learning phases: collection, analysis, creative interpretation and action/application. One of the major challenges experienced in the four aspects of learning is the creative interpretation of information to suit various environments. The creative aspect of interpretation is normally challenging because of the varying environments in which a single principle can be applied. Consider the application of the law of inertia: it is difficult to find how inertia can be applied in the braking of a vehicle and at the same time in pulling a paper from underneath a coin, or a carpet from underneath one’s feet. The different environments provide completely different sets of information.

In dealing with this challenge, it would be more satisfying if there was deep consideration of the analysis phase of learning. This is because this phase provides the learner with adequate time to reflect on collected ideas and question them thoroughly before considering their interpretation in various environments. Additionally, others would help in this aspect of learning by engaging in group discussions to determine how each member analyzed their new information and is creatively interpreting it to form new experience (action phase). This way, frustrating aspects of learning new concepts are likely to reduce.
