Israel is the only Jewish state in the world. The country is located on the Eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea. Over the years, Israel has grown to become one of the most influential and developed nations in the region. In most instances, Israel is considered to be a development miracle. The trend is attributed to the fact that it is an island economy that was initially covered by large deserts. More than half of the nation was a desert and was considered to be unproductive. However, subsequent governments have taken proactive steps to help the nation become industrialized. Today, Israel is considered to be one of the most successful service-based economies ( Beilin, 2004; Gazit, 2003 ). In addition, it is a global leader in a wide range of areas, such as energy, water, health, cyber development, and urban development. The invaluable experience and knowledge linked with the nation’s rapid development has based been used as the basis for promoting international cooperation with other nations. In addition, the state has used its previous experience to deepen cooperation and develop diplomatic ties with both developed and developing nations. The country has a number of allies and partners, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Moreover, it has strived to create and maintain positive relations with states in the developing world. In this case, the focus has been on using Israel experience and technology to assist the developing countries to overcome some of the main problems and challenges that they are facing. The issues may be related to climate change, water, environmental protection, health, and agriculture. Unlike many developed nations’ however, Israel does not have effective and coherent international policy, In addition, it lags behind other nations in the OECD in terms of humanitarian assistance and international development. This paper aims to explore the position of Israel in the international area.

Israel is a state that has undergone significant transformation over the years. The birth of the nation is largely linked to the Zionism movement. This is a movement that began in the late 19 th century and was characterized by the creation of political and religious movements among the Jewish communities. Those who belonged to Zionism movement strived to reestablish a Jewish homeland in Palestine. A significant number of them immigrated to the holy cities with the objective of creating new settlements. In the same time, the immigrants wanted to create an environment that could enable them to live in accordance to the Jewish teachings. In some cases, the Jewish people who were living in Europe and other parts of the world decided to go back to Palestine and embraced Zionism ( Beilin, 2004 ). These people feared that they would be persecuted during the Nazi reign. Following the end of the Second World War and the Holocaust, many members of the Zionist movement decided to focus on creating an independent Jewish state that would eventually be known as Israel. The move was resisted by many Palestinians who joint the Arab nationalist movement to protect their territory. In the year 1947, the United Nations approved the partitioning of Palestine to create an Arab and Jewish states. In 1948, Israel was declared an independent state with David Ben-Gurion becoming the first prime minister of the Jewish state. The historical event marked the beginning of the rise of Israel. However, it also marked the start of the long and never ending conflict between Israel and its neighboring Arab countries. When Israel became an independent state in 1948, for instance, Arab states like Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon decided to invade it under the claims that they were protecting Arab territories. The decision led to a civil war throughout the country. In addition, it marked the start of the animosity and conflict between the Jewish nation and the Arab world. These are events that would shape the position of the country in the international arena.

Israel has emerged to become one of the strongest nations in the world today. In addition, it is considered to be an influential nation with very strong partners and allies throughout the world. For instance, Israel has been a major ally of the United States for a long time. The US has been supporting the country in its efforts to deal with the political and economic challenges that it is facing. For instance, the Trump administration recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The move resulted in questions being raised on the interest of the US in the region. However, it was an indication of the strong partnership between Israel and the United States. The strength and position of the United States has been linked to a wide range of factors. One of the main reasons that has contributed to the strength and growth of the country is its unique and well established Jewish culture. As stated earlier, Israel is the only Jewish country in the world ( Gazit, 2003 ). It has been fighting hard to protect its culture both locally and regionally. The unique culture has been considered to be a source of unity in the country. It has enabled the government to rally its citizens to deal with the various political and social problems facing it. Another factor that has contributed to the growth and strength of the country is its strong economy. Initially, Israel was a desert nation with minimal resources and prospects. However, the governments have transformed the nation from a semi socialist state to a high technology superpower. The process has entailed investing significant amounts of money in different sectors of the economy. Finally, the decision by the country to partner with strong economies has strengthened its position in the market. Today, Israel continues to play a critical role in influencing the global trends.

Israel has undergone significant events that have strengthened its position in the global arena. One of the events that have influenced the position of Israel in global map is the conflict with Palestine. For a long time, Israel has been working to protect its holy sites. The efforts have also created animosity with Palestine ( Beilin, 2004 ). However, the Israeli governments have stated that they are fighting for what is rightfully theirs. The process entails launching attacks targeting the Palestine forces in the region. To be able to succeed in its efforts, Israel has been working to strengthen its partnership with the US. In most cases, the country has been supporting the US in various fights that it is undertaking throughout the world. The primary objective is to get the assistance that it requires to be able to succeed in its wars. The strong partnership between the US and Israel has played a key role in influencing the direction of the Israel-Palestine conflict. The country has been getting both financial and military equipment support as it strives to deal with the issue with Palestine. The partnership with the United States has made Israel one of the powerful nations in the world. In addition, it has become a major ally that the US can depend on as it strives to protect its international interest.

The concept of liberal internationalism, realism, and world systems theory provide a basis for examining the position of a country in the world. Liberalism revolves around supporting nationalism and working towards the freedom of a nation. In the case of Israel, the government has been working towards rallying the Jewish community to work towards protecting their interest and land. In addition, Israel has focused on promoting free market ideologies and supporting elimination of discrimination against its citizens. Such efforts have made it a nation that is highly admired in the world ( Beilin, 2004 ). The subject of realism, on the other hand, deal with the manner in which the nation tries to tackle its problems. Israel has worked with its partners like the UN to deal with common problems. The country has been offering vital military information that its partners can used to deal with existing and future problems. Finally, the government understand that Israel operates in a world system. The world system theory provides the most excellent explanation for the position of the country. Over the years, Israel has been working to strengthen its global position by partnering with one of the strongest and successful nations in the country. In addition, the country has been leveraging its resources to develop lasting relations with the developing nations. The primary objective is to give the nation a strong global position even in challenging times.

Israel has grown from poor desert nation to become one of the most powerful nations in the world today. It is known to be the only Jewish state. The nation’s unique culture has provided a basis for strengthening its position and rallying the citizens to work towards common objectives. Over the years, Israel has been involved in different projects, events, and conflicts that have affected its global position. For instance, the nation was involved in the Palestine war, an event that continues to affect it today. The continued partnership with other nations such as the United States have gone a long way in enhancing the position of Israel in the international area. The country is expected to play a leading role in shaping global affairs in the future.
