Describe
People behave differently thus affecting their lives either negatively or positively. One of the most negative behaviors that I had and that almost costed my life was inability to take my studies seriously. Before I went to high school, I developed a behavior of taking my studies lightly. The notable characteristic that led this behavior to thrive is that I developed friendship with some other students who did not see any benefits in studying. I also had low self-esteem and never believed that I could make any difference in my academic life. This negative characteristic led to poor performance and sometimes inability to do exams and even attend classes.
Explain
When I conducted a self-assessment, I realized later that some traits that I was born with led to the manifestation of this behavior. For example, I was born a shy person, and this became worse since most of the people who surrounded me took my shyness as a weak factor in my development. No matter how hard I try to fit in the society, I encounter people, including some close relatives, who think that I am weak. Often times, the people around me make fun of the fact that I portray a shy and an introvert personality. This is made worse by the fact that I rarely chat with people. My shy personality and the incapability of confronting issues as they came my way in school made it difficult for me to study effectively. It worsened my low self-esteem and made me view studies from a negative perspective. I suddenly developed less interest in school, struggled to fit in, and this led to becoming friends with students who did not value education. The habit worsened later on as I kept losing perspective of the importance of education in my life. The fact that I never took my studies seriously led to poor performances in elementary and high school.

Moreover, some other environmental factors such as the people who surrounded me in my daily life also promoted the manifestation of the negative behavior. Most of my close relatives made fun of me and even thought that I was a queer child who never liked socializing with others. This became even worse when they could talk negatively about me on the face. As such, I developed the character of doing all the wrong things to make the people satisfied with their view that I was not good at anything. Moreover, the experience of being ridiculed constantly also acted in shaping my behavior negatively. It made me feel less appreciated and unworthy of anything I did. It especially affected my academic performances and made me lack vision.
Predict
After analyzing my behavior and its overall impact on my academic performance, I realized that I would not get better grades at college just as I did in high school. Secondly, poor grades in college would make me miss getting the best job of my dream. It is clear that students usually get poor grades if they do not perform well in their academics. Secondly, poor grades also mean that the person lowers his or her chances of getting the best job postings after graduating from college. Therefore, I realized that it was important for me to start performing well in college to be able to get my dream job and live the best life I have always wanted to enjoy. I plan to graduate after three years in college then get a job. However, I know very well that if I do not change my behavior and attitude towards academics, then I will graduate, but with poor grades. This will limit my ability to get the best employment and hence I will live a poor life.
Change
I have come to the realization that I need to change this behavior for me to achieve my future goals. Therefore, some of the two aspects that I have decided to adapt to change this behavior are to study harder and change my attitude towards schooling and life as a whole. Despite the fact that I joined a bad group to please people, I had my life well shaped, and I knew that I want to perform well and get better grades. Therefore, I have decided to take my studies more seriously. I will be attending all the lectures on a daily basis as expected of me (University of Nottingham, 2014). Furthermore, I will dedicate more study time at home to ensure that I grasp and understand all that I have learned in various lectures as a means of improving my grades. I will also view my academics more positively because I aim to live a better life and this can only come true with better academic performances. I have always known that education is the key to success and in my current point in life, I believe that taking my studies seriously will enable me to achieve better grades for better employment opportunities.
Aside from studying hard for better grades, I also intend to research various organizations that employ people with my skills and knowledge (Gorman, Sirgy, & Railly, 2012). I intend to take some part-time work with them to make it possible for me to understand what employers look for in their employees. Working in my preferred organization will equip me with the skills, knowledge and the expertise required in the industry I intend to work for in future.
