Osama Bin Laden was the key focus of the CIA immediately after the terrorist attack in the United States that took place in 2001 (Shahzad, 2012). The United States Intelligence hunted down the terrorist by use of unique techniques that involved interrogating community members as a way of collecting information about those people who closely worked with the Al-Qaida leader. The mission became successful due to the highly advanced intelligence operations that were led by CIA who had support from the rest of the intelligence community. A report was collected by the intelligence about a key courier service that was linked to his compound in Pakistan.
The compound that was linked to by a courier had high security feature which were not usual in the region. The intelligence realized that there was no internet or telephone connections that were linked to the compound. This information was collected through HUMINT, GEOINT and SIGINT by intelligence (Cozine, 2013) . Members of the community provided the intelligence service with information about the place that helped them in killing the suspect. Information such as the registered owner’s capacity that could not allow them to afford such a house led to more investigation by the CIA. The compound which was believed to hide Bin Laden and the courier was further assessed. There was intense training for the raid which included building of the exact replica of Osama Bin Laden’s compound in order to fully prepare the team that was to raid the home for any attacks that they could possibly encounter.

Efforts to collect information about the compound were done from the sky and from the ground. A safe house was set on the ground to watch the compound and all activities that went on. This led the intelligence to notice that there was a person who rarely left the compound and only took short walks. The CIA could not totally identify the person and initiated a fake vaccination program to try and obtain DNA of the children within the compound. Senior Pakistan doctors cooperated in the operation in order to try and access the compound but the exercise was not successful. This information was later used by the intelligence to determine how impossible it was to access the compound leading them to use other means to raid Osama Bin Laden’s home where he was killed alongside his brother and other members of his family.
