Sleep deprivation is a disease caused by lack of enough or getting less sleep than what a normal human being should. Different people require different sleep time for them to be considered deprived. Similarly, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will help Professor understand quite well pattern towards good sleeping habits. The treatment makes one change any non-healthy habit as it promotes positive thoughts toward enough sleep. Keeping his bedroom dark will trigger sleep which will help him sleep once he goes into the bedroom. Provided Professor follows the above techniques and habits he will develop a good sleeping habit. That will make him out of risk of being affected by sleep deprivation.
