Piaget described the stages of development of a child from infancy to adulthood that can be relevant to most parents when they understand it. They would be able to address issues positively that rise in the lives of their loved ones and increase the chances of applying the correct parenting styles at the various stages of growth and development of children. It Provides the four stages of development that include Sensorimotor stage (Infancy), Pre-operational stage (Toddler and Early Childhood), Concrete operational stage (Elementary and early adolescence) and finally the Formal operational stage (Adolescence and adulthood). Each stage presents different characteristics and expectations and, consequently, the knowledge is critical to parents as it helps them make deliberations (Bigelow, Tesson & Lewko, 2013). Also, understands the processes and transitions that their children go through by supporting them and providing the best forum and conditions that can help them adapt quickly to the changes experienced in life through assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium adaptation processes.

The knowledge and skills presented by Piaget, thus, prepares parent mentally for parenting roles and responsibilities as well as act as the monitoring and evaluation of the growth and development of their children by comparing and analyzing the changes and developments experienced by their children to those stated by Piaget as far as parenting is concerned. It can, as a result, help parents note early abnormalities in their children growth and development and, hence, intervene at the earliest time possible as a result of responsible parenting (Li, 2016). The psychology knowledge, therefore, has proved relevant and important and researchers have recommended that expecting parents need to be educated on the possible outcomes in the parenting roles and responsibilities to help them raise their children in the best possible manner and increase the likelihood of their children becoming and growing in the right way. Studies also have indicated that people with knowledge in psychology and in particular that touches on the various stages of growth and development of human beings are better placed to intervene and institute right measures that ensure that their children grow in the correct manner in all the stages of life (Bigelow et al., 2013).

In conclusion, the knowledge and skills learned in psychology has proved relevant and critical for many. It enables them to make an informed decision not only related to their lives but also those close to them such as family and friends among others and parenting roles and responsibilities is no exception. The knowledge has helped many gain insight and practical solutions to challenges encountered in life.
