Being an O is a difficult thing as much is expected from a person. The immense pressure put on an “O” to do things amidst X’s makes it extremely difficult for the O’s to cope with the situation. Therefore, the O’s usually decide to either work extremely hard and become more successful than the X’s, become shadows of particular X’s to avoid facing the pressure or try to become an X (Trainerstoolchest, 201). Whichever, way the O’s try to go about handling the heavy duty placed on them, they always end up being O’s and will always stand out in a crowd of X’s (Milgram, 2017). The following is a plan showing how I will be an O in group of X’s elaborating the time and group of X’s.

Situation of Participation

I am a psychology major at the university and every Fridays, the school department of psychology together with other departments usually hold meetings to discuss various issues pertaining to their respective areas of study. Well, this Friday, I intend to attend the Architecture’s gathering and take part in their talk on Friday afternoon between 2.00 pm and 4.30 pm. The venue of the meeting will be the university common hall. According to the issued announcement by the Architecture department, the main agenda of the meeting will be to discuss Innovative Ways of Assessing the Needs of Customers in Building Design and will be chaired and moderated by three Architecture final year students.

Permission

One does not require special permission to attend the meeting because it is a university affair and any individual who is willing to attend the event will do so. The only requirement for attendance is that one is a student at the university and thus the prerequisite for entry will be the school identification card issued by the university. Other rules entail proper discipline thus one will not be allowed to enter if drunk and disorderly.

Plan

As stated earlier, the Architecture department in the school will have a meeting to discuss Innovative Ways of Assessing the Needs of Clients in the Design of Buildings. The event has already been made public for interested persons to attend. Therefore, I will first contact the chairperson of the event as the posters contain the contact details of the chairperson, treasurer and co-ordinator of the event. The main purpose for contacting the chairman will be to gain some background knowledge on design of buildings. I will further do some research on the same topic in order to be properly equipped in the area so as not to lack understanding of points and issues raised during the meeting.

According to the schedule issued on the posters advertising the event, the meeting will commence at exactly 2.00 pm and is estimated to end at around 4.30pm. I shall thus attend the meeting at around 2.20 pm so that I do not get in the frontline of the event considering I lack proper comprehension of architecture. I am aware of the way to the Common hall in the university and will thus avail myself within the predicted time.

Reason for choosing the Setting

The topic of the meeting or rather the agenda of the meeting has a lot to do with my major, psychology as it touches on getting to understand what people wish for or think rather. Therefore, the setting will be an important place for me to brainstorm with people from a different scope of study or field rather and grasp a thing or two on an area that I am specialist.

Predictions

I expect that Architecture students will listen to my opinions and take heed to them but most will either second guess them or overlook them considering that I do not come from their department. However, it is also possible that a good number of them will cherish my contribution and extend openness to me.
