The material learned this week from the chapter reading can be critical in communicating strategically. The question and answer, for example, give an insight of how a presenter should prepare for potential questions from the audience and the best approach to respond to such questions. The question and answer session are good for clarifying the some of the information. Similarly, it gives the presenter an opportunity to determine their effectiveness in transmitting information during the presentation. The tips are handy in addressing some of the real-life situations faced during a presentation. A presenter can also develop strong communication skills once they are able to handle the ten tough questions as well as the dumb question. Once a presentation is over, the presenter should evaluate whether the desired results were achieved (Griffin, Ledbetter & Sparks, 2015).
The material on evaluating results- turning success or failure can be helpful for future encounters. It informs the presenter on where to find help or what to do in the future to avoid embarrassments and the likelihood of a poor presentation. This material is critical in all presentations and gives an opportunity to prepare adequately for an upcoming event (Anderson, 2013). Question 2
The material learned this week can be used to improve the professional presence of the presenter by helping them to prepare for the presentation. The material is insightful as to how the communicator will prepare for a presentation including seeking advice from the coach and the audience and how to handle question and answers session. A good presentation requires proper planning and preparation (Heath & Gregory, 2015). The presenter must understand the strong and weak points in addition to their nonverbal communication to be able to overcome the fear associated with the presentation (Anderson, 2013). The ability to present and answer questions professionally will make one a professional in the field giving them the confidence to appear professional and knowledgeable in the field under discussion.
Question 3
Some of the obstacles faced in the course of the week include poor preparation and lack of confidence. The time was limited and developing a clear understanding of the topic was critical for a successful presentation. Similarly, selecting a topic and identifying appropriate materials was also a challenge in the initial stages. The obstacles were however overcome through the intervention of a colleague and the coach who was more than helpful. The encouragement received from a friend helped to build confidence. Similarly, practice sessions with the friend were helpful in overcoming some of the challenges.
