The advent of the 21 st century has seen to more focus being paid to the acquisition of professionals and experts in the workplace in a bid to improve the performance of companies and organizations alike. The professionalism of individuals is vital for strategizing together with ensuring that companies can keep up with the ever changing business environment (Noe et al., 2017). Moreover, with the rapid changes and innovations to the technology that is used for various functions has further lead to the need for individuals to focus on acquiring the most relevant skills for their specific career (Noe et al., 2017). 

In order for individuals to ensure that they are marketable professionals in their specific fields, it is vital for them to invest in planning and development of their careers to ensure that they constantly add on to their skills and knowledge (Noe et al., 2017). In the human resource management field, it is critical for an employee to stay updated on the technological advancements in the field in addition to being willing to undertake training for the necessary skills and knowledge necessary. Moreover, for the human resource manager, it is vital to stay updated on the industry rules and regulations pertaining to recruitment and selection of new employees (Noe et al., 2017). Additionally, a human resource manager is required to acquire strategizing and planning skills to ensure that the employees of the organization are selected with regard to the strategies and skills required by the organization at that point in time.

Research findings point of the fact that human resource managers play critical roles in the modern workplace given the critical value attached to professional and high value employees who are both competent and committed to the objectives and plans of the organizations they work for (Noe et al., 2017). Additionally, scholars assert that for an individual yearning for the position of a human resource manager, it is critical to ensure that they specialize early enough, from the onset of their careers. As individuals spend time in the same career field, they are more likely to significantly improve the value of their skills and talents for their specific work roles (Noe et al., 2017). This is bound to make them more competent in addition to ensuring that they are able to make better judgements calls on vital decisions that have to be made at the workplace (Noe et al., 2017). 

Moreover, a human resource manager should focus on nurturing of their interpersonal skills to ensure that they are able to relate well with other employees. This is essential as human resource managers are expected to mediate in conflicts in addition to nurturing good relations among other employees (Noe et al., 2017). It is vital to invest in taking the necessary lessons and training that is necessary to improve communication skills in addition to ensuring interpersonal skills of individuals are nurtured. Research also delineates to the fact that human resource managers and employees should constantly yearn and focus on increasing their technological knowhow as it pertains to the selection and recruitment of employees (Noe et al., 2017). Additionally, the acquisition of skills pertaining to technology is critical for the measuring and analysis of employee performance to ensure that all employees are performing. 

Conclusion 

It is critical for an individual yearning to grow in the human resource field serving the position of a human resource manager to recognize the critical nature of their role in the continued survival and performance of an organization (Noe et al., 2017). To this extent therefore, a human resource manager should ensure that their technological knowhow is up to per with industry and market trends. This is together with ensuring that an individual sets apart resources to ensure that they are able to acquire training to improve their leadership and management skills (Noe et al., 2017). Additionally, it is critical for a human resource manager to ensure that they have the necessary communications and interpersonal skills to be able to solve conflicts at the workplace in addition to nurturing good relations among other employees.
