Description
The challenge is convincing a panel of interviewers that I am the best candidate for the senior accounts manager post. Though the position is competitive, I am no in doubt that my qualifications and years of experience in the accounting field has prepared me for this opportunity. However, my ability to strategically communicate and convince the interviewers will also be a determining factor regarding acquiring the position. Getting the senior accounts manager position will be a career milestone for my profession. Besides the hefty paycheque and handsome compensation packages, getting the position will make it possible to be considered for future appointments in the public accounts committee headed by the ministry of finance and trade.
Goal
The goal is to engineer plans tactics, and messages that will convince the interviewing audience that I possess creative solutions that will help the organization become innovative and maximize profits when placed in the job position. The goal is actionable, clear, and concise because I believe that by maintaining transparency during the communication process, it will be possible to deliver observable and measurable results. The communication will also ensure that I become responsive, proactive, and maintain a reactive posture when communicating with the interviewers ( Frandsen & Johansen, 2017).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Audience
My target audience is a panel of interviewers, which comprise of experienced individuals with a wealth of experience in matters relating to accounting, auditing, finance, human resource, and ethics. Some members of the audience are heads of departments in their organizations, while others are from the ministry of labor. Because of gender equality, the interviewing panel will comprise of members of both genders, male and female. As it is a senior position, the interviewing panel will comprise people with a higher level of education. The panel members should either have masters or Ph.D. degrees. Also, the interviewers will comprise of members from different races, including Black-Americans, Whites, Hispanics, and Asians, to ensure that all participants of the interviews have a representation. The interviewers are people who have spent a lot of years studying and indulging in various respective areas in their professions. Therefore, the interviewers will comprise of people of advanced ages 40 to 55.
The interviewers are all strangers, and we have never met before the scheduled interview. The only information I have is that the interviewers comprise of individuals with high integrity and professional expertise. Engaging in any form of canvassing will lead to automatic qualification. Hence, I have restrained myself from establishing contact with the interviewers. Each member of the audience has more than ten years of experience in his or her professional field. They have personal, education, and professional background information about interviewees, which they obtained from the job application letters submitted. The audience encounter issues relating to recruitment and labor relations in various capacities. They are, therefore, familiar with what it takes to get the best and suitable individual to fill a vacant job position when conducting the selection and recruitment process. Further, the audience realizes that it takes more than good papers and qualifications for a potential employee to be considered for a position. Besides qualifications, a potential job candidate should possess values, such as honesty, integrity, good morals and social ethics, and excellent communication skills.
The audience believes that a strategic communication plan is essential to achieving effective communication driven to generate new ideas and obtain solid outcomes. The audience also feels that being strategic will ensure that individuals communicate messages that align and support the organization's objectives ( Thomas & Stephens, 2015). Though I am confident in my abilities for the job position, I have preconceived that the audience (interviewers) are corrupt individuals who are conducting the interview only for formality purposes. I feel that they have already selected a candidate for the positions using underhand and corrupt mechanisms rather than giving all the interviewees a fair platform.
The only crucial information available about the audience is that they are no-nonsense individuals who mean business in their work. They do not entertain mediocrity, nor do they like wasting time interviewing those who are not sure what they want to achieve in their future careers. I will use the internet to gather more information about the recruiting procedure of the hiring organization. I will also conduct reconnaissance to the respective offices of the organization and inquire from employees more about the recruiting agencies concerned with interviewing and hiring of staff. From the information obtained, I have ascertained that the audience (interviewers) is people of high integrity. They are not corrupt and most certainly consider potential job candidates for respective job openings based on qualification. The audience also believes in a true and fair interviewing process.
I will use a formal tone throughout the interviewing process. Being interviewed for a dream job is a life-changing opportunity, hence using a formal tone will show that I have respect for the audience and that I am interested in the job. Moreover, the interview setting is formal, and all the communication is impersonal; hence there is no need for being casual and using a playful or funny tone.
Key Message
Messaging acts as the core product of the strategic communication process. The primary message I am trying to convey to my audience is that when given the job position, I will budget for appropriate staff, develop strategic policies focused on teamwork, and channel resources to ensure that I effectively deliver the goals and objectives of the organization against the plan. The message is memorable and concise as it displays some of the indicators and a practical approach to evaluating success. The secret to effective communication planning is to ensure that the message adopts an audience-centric approach ( Frandsen & Johansen, 2017) . The information I collected about the audience shows that they are more interested in hiring an individual who will take the vision of the organization into the next level through strategic planning and being innovative. Therefore, the message aligns with the goals and needs of the audience, which is to hire an individual who is strategic and innovative to maximize the profitability of the organization.
Supporting Points
The message crafted is compelling and justified because it is based on the important values that I will bring into the organization once considered for the position. First, the budget for appropriate staff will promote the division of labor and specialization, which increases the speed and quality of work. Next, promoting teamwork will make all employees feel that they are part and parcel of the organization and dedicate their energy, skills, and expertise towards achieving the set goals. Also, the message indicates the road map people should take to achieve the organization’s goals, that is, channeling resources towards essential activities. I will visit the company's website to gather information on how well it has been doing financially for the past year. I will also read the organization's prospectus to learn more about its employee culture.
Channel Selection
I will employ the tell/sell communication style when engaging with the audience to deliver the message. As an interviewee, I believe that the purpose of communicating with an interviewing panel is to sell my qualifications and experiences that showcase my suitability to fill the vacant position. I will use the face-to-face channel of communication. I am clear with verbal communication; hence face-to-face channel of communication is effective because it will ensure direct interaction with the audience, thus making it possible to gauge their attitude and reactions. The purpose served by the selected communication channel is to allow me to build better rapport and trust with the audience ( Marlow, 2016).
Action Request
The action I am making to the audience is clear, concise, and easily actionable through strategic thinking and policymaking. Based on the information I have researched and gathered about the position, it seems the organization needs someone who is tactical and will promote the culture of teamwork among the employees. The message I am relaying is easily actionable because it does not require huge capital investment to actualize.
