I think that one of the roles of education is to expose people to experiences and events that they otherwise would not have been a part of. Education might have been about providing information and knowledge, but my generation has shown that education is more about linking information to the right audience. The link is useful since most people in this generation are desperate for success. Despite this, most people have no clear cut definitions of what success is, and most are trying to align them according to their passions.
My generation has the ability and potential to take human development to the next step. However, most people at this age are desperately trying to find their calling and passions in life. Success is no longer measured exclusively by wealth, but rather by how much progress a person makes according to their dreams and passions. Most people are clueless about what drives them, and this is one of the roles of education in this age. Due to this, there is a misconception that our generation takes things for granted. However, these people have more access to information, and they can predict whether a certain path would lead them to their passion.

Most of the challenges that faced the older generation found solutions in innovation and technology. Progress in career, academics, and projects is now easier than ever. This prevalence of information also enables a person to analyze the end product of their activities and efforts and contemplate on whether that would define success for them. Although the information is prevalent, there seems to be a gap between the providers and the receivers. Since most of the barriers to the access and flow of information are no longer existent, other generations are often puzzled when they hear that an individual is unsure about their next step, and this might be misread as laziness. Conversely, people who try out different experiences are perceived as being distracted.
The challenges faced by this generation and progress in education might be harder to comprehend since they are harder to rationalize. It does not mean that they are any less problematic. It, however, also means that to overcome this challenge, an individual would have to define their passions. For this group, access to necessary resources and credible information is what would determine the level and speed of their success. For a student like myself, majoring in biomedical science, this would mean having a guiding figure who would direct opportunities my way. In my case, this would mean that I can access the research and internship opportunities that I would otherwise have trouble finding. Additionally, having an advising system dedicated to supporting my progress would be immensely beneficial for me to jumpstart my career. For this reason, I would like to join Barrett.
