I have experienced practical intelligence in my life before. One of my friends, Johnny, was a street-smart guy and he could easily adapt to the environment accordingly to ensure that he best suit the situation. Therefore, he was able to meet his needs because of the capability to apply a simple common sense to deal with everyday tasks. Additionally, you could not easily take advantage of him since he could adjust well to the world around him by coping with concrete situations.

Johnny applied his abilities to any kind of problem that confronted him throughout his daily life both at home and on the job. In this regard, he had tacit knowledge because he was much concerned with what he needs to know to fit properly in novelty environments. This kind of knowledge helped him to solve work-related problems in all job situations that he ever encountered and devised solutions to the challenges.

Ideally, he demonstrated practical intelligence that was embodied in his tacit knowledge that always increased with experience. He always gained and learnt a lot information within his short period of stay at any given job. Johnny was quite unique since many people can spend many years at a job without gaining any experience. Importantly, he could predict job performance and sometimes fail to adapt to their immediate environments. Johnny knew what to say and to whom, when to say it, and how to express it and he always ensured that he got what he wanted no matter the situation. Precisely, he applied past knowledge and skills to modify, adapt, and choose different environments to achieve his goals. Therefore, he relied on common sense to solve problems in his daily life rather than what was always taught either in class or in society.
