Executive Summary
Objectives
Organizations may experience significant problems in their daily operations. Identifying these issues and initiating steps towards effective change will help achieve the goals hence the need to develop an influence-based change project with the primary objective of enhancing effective communication among Interclass Debate Club members.
Entry and Contracting
The officials serve as my primary client following the numerous challenges noted in the group’s communication practices with input from the English teachers, members, and the club patron. The most recent incident was the previous meeting, where several members were absent. While those responsible for scheduling expressed different ways of enhancing communication, they did not feel it affected the officials. The relevant leaders would help identify appropriate time slots for enforcing change while noting barriers for delay and interventions to overcome them. My roles were laid out for the project, including evaluating the problems, encouraging members to progress, and maintaining privacy for information received. Engagement in the program would become official after signing a contract.

Data Gathering
A focus group discussion would help in data collection using a random selection of members who brought diverse views. Ground rules set at the beginning laid a foundation for a serious conversation where participants recognize the importance of their roles in the future of the club. Some of the issues believed to cause ineffective communication included relationship issues, lack of awareness of group goals and objectives, assumptions, low sense of ownership, lack of direction, and lacking cooperation. Potential solutions included proper dissemination of information from the top-down, clear vision of the group, enhancing ownership of responsibilities, effective medium of communication, and requesting feedback.
Diagnosis
Only relevant data of the problem, causes, and potential solutions were noted while highlighting those that may have been left out. The solutions specific to the issue would be presented while identifying the manageable issues I could focus on and those that were the responsibility of other members.
Feedback
Following the compilation of data, it was evident that the issues revolved around poor leadership, morale, relationship concerns, and cooperation among members. Interventions would include redesigning two-way feedback communication channels, input from members in the development of a vision and mission for the association, and continued cooperation going forward in association activities.
Evaluation and Exit
A review of the influence-based-change project showed evidence of the need to enhance effective communication with the association at a crisis. The members recognized the need to participate in eradicating the problem actively.
Conclusions and Recommendations
The involvement of the focus group was at the core of developing an effective plan in ensuring effective communication. Future organizations and consultants should adopt a similar project in squashing internal group problems. High level of buy-in by members after receiving a proposal for enhancing interaction and relay of messages in the association.
