I understand the importance of effective communication in the business environment. My personality and EI shape my interpersonal and management/leadership communications. Emotional intelligence and personality impact my strengths and weaknesses in communication. Compassion, courage, trust, calmness, optimism, patience and humility form the core of my personality. The superior personality quality has played an important role for me to attain effective communication. EI also affect how I communicate with other people. Although I have not attained a managerial position at the moment, I understand the importance of effective communication in a business environment.
My communication strengths are diverse and contribute significantly to effective communication. Humility and patience help me to listen attentively. I pay attention and actively listen when a person is talking to me. I listen and observe non-verbal communication methods when conversing with a person. Some of the non-verbal communication strategies that I have learned to maintain and observe include body language, hand gestures, eye contacts, and tone of the voice. Listening enable me to comprehend the information relayed to me. Patience helps me to take time and make a personal connection with a message. Precision helps me summarize and clarify the information.

Calmness and compassion help me maintain calm in a competitive communication environment. I can give constructive criticism without offending others. I believe that effective communication should be friendly besides the difference in ideas with others. I have learned the importance of calmness in a tense environment to avoid misunderstanding which can create conflict. I have learned to develop clear and concise verbal ideas to avoid confusion. These elements have allowed me to become an effective communicator.
Emotional intelligence involves understanding personal emotions and emotions of others. Effective communication is only possible when we can connect with others emotionally. Working with people requires more than listening attentively. One has to connect with others emotionally to understand how they feel and how to address them. As a manager, I will work hard to communicate with colleagues and improve the process of communication.
