People across the world have a tendency of existing in communities where they share common interests and develop a sense of culture and tradition. While living in the communities greatly depends on sustaining peaceful coexistence, there are challenges that may occur, whether natural or manmade, that may require being resolved. It is common that members of a society will opt to work together towards solving the community based problems that may arise. While working together o problem solving projects may have its benefits, there are times an individual may have a question regarding a project but not get the chance to ask or not know how to ask. One question that may arise is the issue of how to identify social determinants in society and how to take advantage of them.

Social determinants are social factors that greatly influence the outcomes of projects on a much broader scale. Identifying them before engaging in projects would be very helpful in knowing what problems may arise such as inadequate income so as to resolve them in advance (Donovan, Duncan & Sebelius, 2012). Most projects that a community engages in are based on assessing the assets that the community posses as well as its strengths and how they can be used to ensure that the most benefits are achieved from the assets. For best results, communities combine assets with their strengths in capacity building for any project that they take up (Altschuld, 2014).

One thing that I would love to know but do not know how to ask is how to conduct a community assessment to identify all the assets and strengths present. Often times, an asset or strength is only identified when there is a problem it can solve (Office of Community Services, 2012). This means that there are various assets that may be unidentified because the community is not looking for them. Answering this question would help identify assets in advance and put them to good use without necessarily having to solve a problem.
