The current Covid-19 pandemic has fostered and confirmed my interest in social work more than ever before. Since 2019, the effects of the epidemic have traversed all aspects of social work, ranging from substance abuse issues, isolation, and violence (especially domestic violence) as nations globally enforce lockdown and movement measures. This period has highlighted to all and sundry the dire need of high-level expertise and proper work training, experience or apprenticeship for many social workers for them to be efficiently equipped to address the day to day issues and challenges.

Covid-19 has awakened the global community to re-consider how they handle various policies that touch on climate change, intervention measures on global poverty, and the general well-being of all humanity. Social workers mitigate climate change disasters. They advocate for equal rights for all people and uphold social justice in developing nations or communities. Social workers have been and should always be an integral part of dealing with such crises at family, community, and institutional levels. They play an essential role even in this era of social distancing by promoting compassion, solidarity, kindness, and the human spirit in the face of this season of difficulty.

In this season of Covid-19, when restrictions of community, national, and international movements are limited, the importance of having well-trained social workers in each community cannot be overstated. The social work practitioners have a deal with anxiety emanating from the risk of infection as they respond to the global pandemic. Today, most social workers realize that the Covid-19 virus has greatly diminished their capacity to deliver social work services to adequately support the affected persons and people they were initially supporting. The Covid-19 has negatively affected the efficacy and reach of community service by social workers.

Social workers' statutory responsibilities have been compromised, and anxiety heightened by the death of some of the social workers getting ill or dying from the Covid-19 virus. The social workers have a hard-new role in caring for families and children while taking care of their safety concerns and that of their families. Adult social workers are having significant challenges in visiting persons and families during the Covid-19 crisis or who have complex needs to increase the stress factors of the social workers. Moreover, there is a need to improve social service standards and redesign strategies for dealing with social work challenges.

Besides the great need for social expertise exposed during the Covid-19, social work has always been at my heart as I grew up. I am eager to apply to the Master's in Social work (MSW) program at “Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service.” I am convinced that the program is the next step toward advocating and supporting people within the confines of social work. I have a great interest in working with children, adolescents, teenagers, and families as a social worker. My previous personal, educational, and professional experiences have fueled my motivation to work in a field that adds value to human development and psychology.

I seek to positively influence and have an active voice in policy at the macro-level and in the political spheres. I want to gain skills that do not limit disciplines of work that I can engage in and advocate for underserved populations. I intend to get into a fulfilling career that is flexible and serves diverse groups of people social workers. I am interested in other people, their lives, and their welfare. I desire to gain more skills and experience in social work to have a fulfilling, successful career in social work. My choice of social work is further fueled by the versatility of the field and the potential of self-improvement that can positively change individual's lives and the world at large for good. I am empathetic, especially towards children, teenagers, and families and sometimes a little over-friendly. I need to hone my skills and have written knowledge to make a positive impact globally.

I do not mind working in the public or private sector as long as it involves serving the vulnerable, underserved populations. I am a great communicator. Fordham University's accredited Master's program in social work, a distinguished faculty, and flexible learning schedules perfectly blend well with my preferences and objectives in social work. I will take advantage of the online studies program with the many educational materials with highly qualified tutors to plan my learning and build my skills, knowledge, and abilities to make the world a better place through social work. The possibility of studying online is much thrilling and encouraging, as it will allow me to care for my family while considering with ease. I will utilize Fordham's provision and connection with community-based agencies of research, other companies, and learning institutions, and international non-governmental organizations to accelerate my social work career.

I am currently not employed, and I intend to complete my Master's degree in social work before I venture into employment. My current schedule will allow time to complete the studies online with sufficient time to soak in more knowledge and skills in social work. Moreover, I will have more time for research and trying out theoretical knowledge in the right real-life scenarios and environments. With Fordham's online mode, I will have the chance to do all the coursework online while getting all the clinical experiences, working with lots of people, and doing real work. The discipline I have developed over the years and a great personal life support system will be a plus in handling the demands of online studies, the 8-week class structure and field placements, and my family responsibilities.
