It is true that consciousness influences the awareness of the outside world. Level of consciousness defines the responsiveness level and which activities the brain can perform. Considering the definition by Bernstein and Nash (2008), two levels of consciousness exists; the conscious and the unconscious level. Majority of the individuals’ mental processing takes place within the non-conscious level. Considering the exercise in book, mental activity, among several influences, do change the consciousness of the mind (Bernstein & Nash, 2008). In the exercise given, figures 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11 and 12 do exist. However, figures 3, 5, 7, 9, and 10 cannot exist in reality. It is undeniably true that it is difficult to ascertain the being of the figures since I had not seen them in the past and hence could not recall seeing them. Bernstein and Nash (2008), affirm that subliminal effects can be small and short-lived but largely influences simple judgments. From the exercises, it was almost impossible to believe that these models exist in reality. As such, the exercise demanded complete focus and attention. People should not multitask while studying. It is also risky to multitask while driving (Murphy, 2013). This is because both activities require much of the brain’s conscious level, which is impossible to achieve when an individual is multitasking. However, some tasks prevail which can be conducted while multitasking (Murphy, 2013). As such, these are the tasks which are easier to do together when multitasking. Driving, however, is not among them since it demands much of the brain’s concentration level. As such, driving is among the activities, which require undivided attention and focused awareness. Among the tasks that can possibly be accomplished through divided attention, with or without focused awareness include eating, talking, watching television, playing, and walking.
