Secondary education is designed to open the mind of an individual to a much wider scope allowing them to comprehend their existence in the context of the world and beyond. The contemporary world requires a comprehension of the extant technology; skills that can only be accessed effectively at secondary school level.
As a mathematics teacher, I have come to appreciate the importance of diversity in the learning environments. The school environment is a learning environment just as it is a socialization point for most individuals. It is the duty of the teacher to strive to enhance his or her teaching approach as a way of ensuring effective learning experiences for students. In this regard, creativity becomes an essential tool of tweaking and improving the teaching approaches. My degrees in Business Science with the accounting option and the other majoring in Liberal Art for teaching are but the right tools needed for the mathematics world. By interweaving my accounting knowledge with that of the teaching, it becomes possible to enrich the learning experience for my students. Such a diverse educational background allows a person the capacity of maintaining an open mind while maintaining an edge of innovativeness.
