1. What experiences at Bcc helped prepare you to be successful?
Bcc acted as a platform through which I advanced my educational journey. It also widened my financial opportunities since I have increased my qualification levels, thus becoming ready for more jobs. Bcc has also been vital in helping me achieve one of my primary goals, which is to get my associate degree.
2. What makes you feel the most proud to be a Bcc graduate?
Being a Latino woman and an immigrant, I am proud that I have succeeded in attaining this accolade. The facility has also made me feel at home throughout the educational process, mainly due to the caring and loving nature of the instructors.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
3. What challenges did you experience while studying at Bcc and how did you overcome them? How were you empowered by those experiences?
When starting, I was faced with a lot of challenges that threatened to derail my academic progress. I was too young and inexperienced. Furthermore, I didn’t have financial support and had to work extra hard to pay for my fees. I also lost my father, and this demoralized me more. I did not have anyone to comfort me apart from my husband, as my mother was living in the Dominican Republic.
4. Discuss your career. What are you doing now, and how did you end up in your current position?
I am currently unemployed since I became a mother recently. I am a full-time student at Lehman College, studying Geology and Spanish with a minor in Middle school and High School education.
5. What helps you keep moving forward?
My son motivates me to move forward despite the challenges I may be facing along the way. Also, the goals that I have set out to accomplish drive me as I seek to become an educated woman.
6. As a source of inspiration, who are you inspired by?
My dear husband always inspires me to aim high and achieve anything that I set my mind to.
7. What motivates you most? What are your goals going forward?
I am motivated by the fact that if I achieve my academic objectives, I will get the chance to repay this country that has offered me such an excellent opportunity to realize my dreams. I want to become a Spanish teacher in the future.
8. What advice would you give a current student to help them be successful (your recipe for success)?
My advice to any current student is that the human mind can achieve anything it wants to, as long as it is intent on doing so. Hence, they should set their objectives clearly and then start working on them as early as possible. They should also never give up despite the challenges that they may face along the way.
9. Please share some thoughts that you think could help inspire current bcc students facing the uncertainties of the upcoming year.
Life is full of uncertainties. If we would always think of the uncertainties that the future holds, then we would not progress at all. It is the courage and the hope for a better tomorrow that drives and motivates us to always keep pushing towards achieving our dreams. I therefore encourage them to look past the dark cloud of uncertainties and embrace hope as they move forward.
