A research paper is a type of essay which is expanded and presents someone’s interpretation or argument; the author does an independent research about a topic and writes the description of the findings of the research (Kumari, 2017). When writing a research paper, it is important first to choose a topic ; the topic should be of interest and that challenges you. Critical thinking should be done and a thesis statement should be stated ; thesis statement helps in pointing out what the paper is all about, and it creates the attentions of the reader as he/she wants to know more (Martin, 2012). It is important to choose helpful sources as these will help in gaining more knowledge about the research and help in writing a quality paper.

Pont of view is essential when writing a research paper; the point of view is the perspective in which a story is told ; it is either in the first person, second person or the third person (Jain, 2015). When writing a writer must strategically choose the point of view that is most effective to develop in your study. The first person focuses on me or us , the second person focuses on you, and the third person focuses on he or she . Third person point of view is the most recommended in academic writing such as essays and research papers; this is because third person point of view directs the reader’s attention to the subject being presented and discussed. When writing a research paper students should use the third person point of view; this is because of the third person point of view as it helps the writer to create a richer and complicated universe. First person point of view should not be used as it limits how far the character will go because it is more personal, third person point of view allows a person to tell the story more effectively and shows the directions of the research.
