Good Morning ladies and gentlemen.

Have you ever asked yourself why companies emphasize the use of development plans? Often, they are used on the new employees as a way of imparting the necessary skills and capabilities in the employees. They are aimed at ensuring the success of the company as a whole. An example is the Individual Development Plan (IDP). This is a document that employees are required to complete in pursuit of development over a given period (Smith, 2011). It is used in both the career and personal development; thus increasing the productivity of an individual.

The Individual Development Plan is a vital tool that gives workers an opportunity to develop their skills and capabilities (Commerce Employees). Also, it promotes the effective utilization of the limited resources for maximum satisfaction. Lastly, it improves the efficacy of an organization through excellent service delivery. As a result, customer satisfaction is attained thus being loyal to the company.

To develop the Individual Development Plan one needs to establish the organizational goals and objectives. This is to ensure they understand their ultimate expectations as well as the required employees' skills and capabilities (Brenner, 2015). Holding a discussion between the management and the workforce is necessary in order to learn the readiness, capabilities, and the skills that the employees need. By comparing the actual and expected competence of the employees, a training and development need is generated. An action plan on how to conduct the training follows. All the actions performed before, during, and after the process are clearly documented to ensure that they are well-followed.

As a way of evaluating the plan, a timetable on the engagement of the employees in the plan is maintained (Mccarthy, 2018). It enables the employer and employees to track the progress of the remaining while at the same time determining the met and the unmet objectives.

As a manager, do you wish to grow and live the dream of attaining the vision of the entity? You need to consider investing in the skills of the employees. Workers are an essential part of a business as they are directly involved in its success. For them to be productive, they need to be cared for. Thank You.
