People often say that everyone has equal access to public resources. The truth is, some people are less fortunate and cannot afford even the most basic of commodities. For this reason, social services were introduced. Social services are public services rendered to the less fortunate in the community. They serve to bring about equality and help the needy gain access to services they would otherwise not access. They also build stronger communities and effective organizations. Some of these services include subsidized housing, Medicare, and Medicaid, adoption, education among many others. The government is usually tasked with providing such services to the citizens. Also, there are nonprofit organizations that volunteer to help the government in the task ( Macdonald, 2016) . An example of a social service organization is Mazon. Mazon has narrowed down its services to providing food for the needy and helping in solving the hunger situation around the United States and Israel. This paper will analyze the organization and some of the challenges it faces.
Mazon is a Hebrew word referring to sustenance. The nonprofit organization understands that it is one thing to provide relief to the hungry, but measures have to be taken to solve the problem in the long run. Mazon has been in existence for approximately thirty years and has taken the leading role in anti-hunger issues in Washington D.C. the organization was founded by Irv Cramer and Leonard Fein back in 1985. In the initial years, the founders used to collect portions of food from social events and deliver to poor households. They later started doing collaborations with synagogues and Rabbis. Today they have managed to get over one thousand over one thousand donors whose mission is to end world hunger ( Grady, 2013) .

Poverty and hunger are issues that have been there since the beginning of time. More so, they mostly affect developing countries. Such people rarely have enough calories to eat to help them sustain their health. Studies have shown that the agricultural sector has greatly improved. However, some social policies and changes seem to be affecting the sector. To begin with, the famous Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are not fully centered on financing the agricultural sector. Thus, food production has been lagging behind, despite the increased number of people affected by chronic hunger. Secondly, there is a major expansion in urban areas and cities ( Grady, 2013) . What this means is that there will also be an increased shift from rural to urban areas, especially among the young. There will be no one left to work on the farms and those left behind, the older generation, are not energetic enough. Thirdly, urban dwellers have increased the demand for healthy food. Given the current economy, the prices of such commodities go up, making those who earn less than two dollars a day unable to purchase.
The last trend affection hunger problems are on climatic changes ( Grady, 2013) . Grady further points out that global warming caused by human activity has made it difficult to predict weather patterns. Also, the increased heat is causing drought to prevail, which increases dessert cover. The impact of these trends is that there is an unequal distribution of food. For instance, in the urban areas, only those earning above ten dollars a day can get access to healthy food. The rest are left to feed on unhealthy diets that do not improve their health. Developing countries have it worse. Desertification reduces the land suitable for growing food crop, meaning that even the little they had is now gone (2013).
Studies have shown that the food produces today is adequate to feed future generations without adding pressure to the agricultural sector. Despite this, the number of people affected by hunger remains high. Such a scenario calls for the analysis of the food system around the globe. If the trends mentioned above persist, the future generations may end up having it worse that today's generation ( Stern, & Axinn, 2017) . Individual behaviors, cultural values, and policies are a high probability of influencing the current and future outcome of the hunger crisis. The society should make choices such as how food will be produced and who will consume it. Also, the hunger crisis and transformative agenda should be made an integral part in the SDGs ( Bourgeois, 2016).
Mazon has a bipartisanship program known as the Farm Bill. The main objective of this Farm Bill is to legally balance the priorities of those producing food and those in need of it. As mentioned above, some policies make it difficult to have equitable distribution of food. Also, Mazon's budget is way below the federal budget. This raises threat for cuts, especially by slashing programs funded by Nutrition such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. If a program such as SNAP were to be cut out from Mazon, the result would be an increase in the hunger problems around the globe. Fortunately, the 2018 Farm Bill seeks to ensure that such drastic measures do not come to pass. Furthermore, the main objective of the 2018 Bill is to ensure that more household gets nutritious food Grady, H. (2013) .
