The human resource department plays an imperative role in protecting the rights of all the employees. Therefore, following the incident reported by the female employee, the human resource manager would hold a dialogue to establish the cause of the issue.

One of the areas that the human resource manager should observe is whether the rights of the female worker have been violated. Besides, it would be imperative to establish if the employee feels safe in the workplace. If the female worker does not feel protected, it is vital to enforce corrective actions. It is the role of the HR to identify the corrective actions that were taken by the line manager after the incident was reported. Finally, the employee should provide recommendations on how the issue can be solved to avoid it from recurring.

Conversation with the Employee’s co-worker 

A dialogue should be carried out to determine whether the male employee understands the implications of female colleague harassment. Providing a copy of the company’s policies is essential to ensure that the mistake does not recur. It is also crucial to establish the reason for the constant harassment of the female colleague. Therefore, the working conditions of the employee’s co-worker should be reviewed to determine whether they are a source of stress. It is also relevant to ascertain if the co-worker has a senior position compared to the female counterpart since it could be one of the reasons for the harassment. The HR should seek information regarding the steps that the male worker will undertake to avoid the same scenario.
