Differences exist between healthy and cancer cells. On cell death or repair, healthy cells either die or are repaired when they get old or are damaged whereas cancer cells neither undergo apoptosis nor get repaired. Also, when viewed under a microscope, cancer cells and healthy cells are different from cancer cells exhibiting more size viability with some smaller or bigger than healthy cells while at the same time having an abnormal shape. Healthy cells reproduce themselves and later stop after the production of sufficient cells whereas cancer cells reproduce swiftly even before the cells have matured. Besides, the rapid growth of cancer cells hinders them from maturing, but rather divide before reaching maturity, whereas healthy cells mature. Moreover, when the healthy cells are damaged, the immune system recognizes and removes them while cancer cells are capable of tricking the immune system and grow to become tumors by releasing chemicals that inactivate the immune cells or avoid detection. Also, cancer cells might not be functional whereas the healthy cells perform the roles assigned to them.

According to the article “Recent Advances in Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia for Cancer Therapy,” hypothermia therapy is a type of cancer treatment. It uses whole or localized heat administration in the body. Severe heating leads the cellular proteins to denaturize or coagulate rapidly, instantly killing cells inside a tumor. The process leads the proteins to lose their tertiary structure, quaternary structure, and secondary structure that result in cell disruption and death. Merging heat treatment with other stressors, also known as cell apoptosis, which means the death of cells, leads to fragmentation referred to as apoptotic bodies, which the phagocytic cells clean up. The phagocytic cells overwhelm the apoptotic bodies that destroy them, making them unable to damage the adjacent cells (Das, Colombo, & Prosperi, 2019). Thus, hypothermia therapy is amazing since it services a viable treatment that kills the cancerous cells from inside out while hindering them from infecting healthy cells.
