The Industrial Revolution led to the emergence of numerous inventions that played an important role in changing the world. At this time, machinery was in high demand hence the innovations were epitomized by the development of various machinery. The inventions transformed the way of doing business as well as changing cities. The changes were mainly notable in the transport and communication sector.
Thomas Newcomen invented the first steam engine that was used to pump water from coalmines thereby allowing miners to dig efficiently. Later, James Watt invented a more advanced steam engine that required less fuel thereby reducing the cost of production. In 1804, Cornishman Richard invented the first locomotive that was used to ferry iron and mine workers (“10 key inventions of the Industrial Revolution,” 2020). The locomotive reduced the cost of labor, as few workers were now required in the mines.

In the communication industry, Sir William Cooke and Wheatstone invented the telegraph machine in 1837 (“10 key inventions of the Industrial Revolution,” 2020). The machine assisted in communication, as messages would now be sent in a more fast and effective manner. Also, in 1829, William Burt patented the first typewriter, which assisted in relaying messages (“10 key inventions of the Industrial Revolution,” 2020).
The invention of the steam engine had a significant contribution to the industrial revolution since it eased the mining process thereby making the process effective (“10 key inventions of the Industrial Revolution,” 2020). As a result, this led to the mass production of goods made from minerals. Moreover, the invention of the telegraph played an essential contribution as it ensured there was effective communication, which contributed to proper cooperation that eventually led to increased production.
The invention of the locomotive is by far the most important. It enhanced all the factors of production: time and labor. The locomotive reduced the cost of transportation while also ensuring the fast movement of goods. In summary, the above-mentioned inventions primarily had a direct impact on the manufacturing industries since they were aimed at increasing the production of finished goods.
