The movie presents two different people who are worlds apart. The first one is a father who genuinely and sincerely loves the daughter and the second person is a daughter who, because is unable to translate and understand his father’s love for her, ends up detesting everything and anything about him. The father is a victim of circumstances having been born deaf and dump. However, that does not limit him from loving his daughter and expressing his love for her. He does everything a loving father can do to the child including taking her to school and warning her to stay from men who are likely to take advantage of her. When the daughter is faced with the situation of death, he is willing to do anything to save her, including selling the house he has. He also donates blood to save the daughter.
The daughter, on the other hand, is desperate for true father’s love, which she thinks she doesn’t have but actually does. She wants to be loved like is done by the other fathers who can talk and hear normally. The girl is also a victim of circumstances. She does not understand her father and every time he expresses himself to her; she feels he is quarreling with her and that he doesn’t understand her. She does not empathize with the father and feels it is his mistake to be in the situation, to the point that the father has to apologize for being deaf and mute. Additionally, the treatment she receives from school and other people in the community makes her hate the father even more. The people actually make her feel terrible for having a deaf father like him.
