Leadership is the exercise or ability to influence a group, team organization and wholly accepts the responsibility of the leading others. Leaders possess authority entitled by members of the groups, teams or organization. In my view, leadership is about followers and loyalty, following them gladly and confidently. For instance, Nelson Mandela founding black president of South Africa, Sachem Tendulkar a cricket player who showed leadership, and Mahatma Gandhi of India. People tend to follow leader voluntarily I believe leadership is the ability to engage more people with what one does. In addition, team creation assist leader creates an opportunity for growth of trust and positive emotions in followers (Avolio et al., 2004). Also, they facilitate a good decision making that improves the welfares of the team led and therefore, creating the high level of engagements in the workplace. Furthermore, a good leader is always participative to the programs initiated by the leading organization, in the case of a football team, the leader should uphold inclusivity, and, have to show responsibility. In addition, a leader should act dutifully with due diligence and faithfulness. Also, leaders should be task-oriented, aiming at attaining the common goals. Openness to experience and creativity on the leader is also essential as it helps in solving the challenges they come across during their tenure. According to May (2004), a good leader upholds integrity, have an outstanding self-awareness, with vision courage, team builder and possess good communication skill.

Gus Hiddink the coach who fought for England team, Chelsea not to go on relegation, when joining the team, the team was messy, the team was divided, commitment, poor coaching style, and coaches lacked leadership. Gus was disciplined, team builder, task-oriented and visionary. He knew what he wanted. According to John Wooden, 2005, argued that things turn out for the best people who make the best of the way things turn out, with this wooden prospered in his careers as he contained intact values, a team builder and he could interact with the players freely. He was the head coach for basketball at the University of California at Los Angeles. He treated them with equality which created trust and commitment toward the team’s prosperity.

What stands out to me about Gus and John Wooden is that a good coach for the team portrays leadership skills whereby they inspire and empower players to attain their full potential. He unifies the team and makes them committed to a single purpose. Coaches have sufficient knowledge about the area he coaches if is soccer, cricket or athletics, this will help understand fundamental skills to advance tactics and strategies to engage during games. In addition, they have foregone their self-interest over the team prosperity, as result they are dedicated and ambitious to see their team succeed thus, they are goal-oriented. A leader tends to motivate his team, therefore stakeholder-led by coaches pay attention to the strength and weakness of the players so as to identify the approach of mentorship and counseling that the plan years requires. Coaches also possess a good effective communication skill, they are interactive, admits feedback regardless of positivity or negativity and always are compassionate about comments, feedback and question from the players. Successive coaches are always visionary and possess intact values that make him remain with a team that is committed to prosper, grow, as visionary person is more acceptable (john wooden, 2005) Coaches with a good communication skill, visionary and with intact values tend to adopt the democratic coaching style since it accommodates the motor skills through which coach will help coach build effective team that uphold togetherness and unity.
