Voluntary fair trade methods are models of importing goods, which are created by workers who earn livable earnings for their work. Producers have to meet certain production and wage principles in return for specific import dispensations (Barak, 2016). On the other hand laws mandating fair working conditions, are designed reduce the barriers that favor certain countries and increase trade between countries. Given the pros and cons of the two methods, the voluntary fair trade method emerges as the best approach of improving worldwide working conditions.
Voluntary fair trade methods have several advantages, one of them the being provision of an outstanding wage systems. Through the fair trade method, many organizations offer amazingly higher earnings for their employees (Marshal, 2016). They also make investments to help the employees in healthcare, training and schooling alternatives. Favoritism or discrimination is prohibited in fair trade and workers are given equal job opportunities. Fair trade helps in eliminating child labor especially in underdeveloped countries. Despite the advantages fair trade has several disadvantages. Besides being blamed for distorting and manipulating the worldwide economy, fair trade has led to many of the impoverished farmers and workers being totally priced out of the systems (Barak, 2016). Fair trade makes it difficult for individuals and cooperatives to embrace its methods due to its high prices.
