One of the most important aspects of human development is social development. Social development is closely related to emotional development during the development of a child. If parents bond with their children, it helps to give them a sense of affection and belonging. This plays a significant role in encouraging children to bond with their peers as well. Caregivers need to instill their children with essential characteristics and practices, which can help to provide them with good communication skills and teach their children how to understand and explain their emotions and those of other people (Pinto et al., 2019).

My friend is an early child development teacher, and after talking to her, she explained that they make use of Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) to help children learn how to adapt to their environment. The children, through SEL, learn how to understand and manage their emotions and feel as well as show empathy. Another skill that children develop through Social/Emotional Learning is maintaining fruitful relationships and learning how to communicate with others (Peltola et al., 2018). For instance, these children manage to de-escalate certain situations by the use of their voices to communicate either feeling of stress or anger. This is vital in developing relationships since it assists than in acting appropriately.

After speaking to her, she told me about the development of her three children, speaking of their differences in emotional development. Her first two children needed more physical affection, which helps them feel comfortable and thus required more physical guidance to help them learn how to explain their emotions. Her other last born child does not need physical affection but requires more verbal communication. This understanding is vital in the infancy development of every child.
